David Shein emigrated from South Africa to Australia in November 1986 to take up the position of National Sales Manager of Ozisoft. In July 1987 he established Com Tech Communications as a specialist supplier of networking and communication products. In August 2000, David sold Com Tech to Dimension Data at a valuation in excess of $1 billion, “arguably Australia’s first unicorn”.
David recently published a book The Dumbest Guy at the Table: How I Founded Australia’s First Unicorn drawing upon his experience: on boards, hands-on business growth, investing in a portfolio of Australian growth businesses experience, and in life. David’s two principles: “face reality as it is, not as it was or you wish it to be”, and “change before you have to”.
